Faculty of Language Studies & Translation was established in 2002 with the launch of the Arab Open University (AOU). As one of AOU's academic faculties, it is affiliated with The Open University (UK), which validates, accredits, and evaluates its academic programmes in accordance with internationally recognized quality standards.
To date, the Faculty offers a Bac + 3 in English Language, Literature, and Translation (ELLT). The programme is designed to develop students' proficiency in the English language, advanced translation skills, and a solid foundation in literature, linguistics, and intercultural communication, preparing graduates for careers in education, translation, and communication-related fields.

English Language, Literature and Translation
Graduates of the ELLT programme acquire a strong foundation in language, literature, and translation, with knowledge of linguistic diversity, literary genres, cultural contexts, and translation theories and strategies. They develop critical thinking, analytical, and research skills, enabling them to interpret, evaluate, and translate a wide range of literary, technical, legal, business, and media texts between Arabic and English while preserving meaning, style, and cultural nuance. The programme also equips students with advanced written and spoken communication skills, proficiency in translation technologies and digital tools, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in multilingual and multicultural environments. These competencies prepare graduates for careers in translation and interpreting, localisation, journalism, publishing, language teaching, public relations, international business, diplomacy, NGOs, audiovisual translation, digital communication, and other cross-cultural and communication-related professions.
